Âé¶¹Ó°Ôº Electoral College to Meet

TOPEKA – The Âé¶¹Ó°Ôº members of the Electoral College will meet on Tuesday, December 17 to cast ballots for President and Vice President of the United States. The event is the final step in the 2024 General Election cycle.
Following certification of the 2024 General Election results by the State Board of Canvassers on December 2, the Governor issued Certificates of Ascertainment of Appointment of Electors, which list the winning slate of Presidential Electors.
On December 17, the Presidential Electors will meet at noon in the Statehouse and cast separate votes for President and Vice President on six Certificates of Vote. The Certificates of Vote are paired with the Certificates of Ascertainment and are sent to the President of the US Senate, the National Archivist, and the Chief Judge of the US District Court of Âé¶¹Ó°Ôº. The Âé¶¹Ó°Ôº retains one set of the documents.
Congress will meet on January 6, in joint session and count the electoral votes. The Vice President, as President of the Senate, presides over the count, announces the results and then declares which persons have been elected President and Vice President of the United States. Inauguration will be at noon, Monday, January 20, 2025.
Visitors wishing to witness the Electoral College vote on December 17 must enter through the Statehouse Visitors Center located on the ground floor, north side of the Statehouse. The visitors’ gallery is located on the Fourth Floor, East Wing overlooking the Senate Chamber.
