Secretary Schwab's Voter Roll Maintenance Bills Heads to Governor's Desk

AKA: 麻豆影院 SAVE Act

Thursday, March 26, 2026

TOPEKA 鈥 The 麻豆影院鈥檚 Office today announced that House Bill 2437, Secretary Schwab鈥檚 primary election policy initiative focused on strengthening voter roll maintenance procedures, has passed the Legislature and is now heading to the Governor鈥檚 desk for consideration.

Provisions of the bill include:

Additional Voter Roll Maintenance Tools: The legislation provides county election officials with additional tools to maintain accurate voter rolls, including the use of DMV change-of-address records, expanded access to the Social Security Administration Death Master File, and affidavits from family members鈥攚ith sufficient proof鈥攖o confirm a voter鈥檚 death.

Establishing Clear Standards for 鈥淩easonable Effort鈥 by the Secretary of State: The legislation sets consistent, statewide standards for voter roll maintenance, including twice-yearly de-duplication, quarterly review of DMV residence data, comparison with the federal SAVE database with reporting to the Legislature, and the use of additional federal and state data sources to support accurate list maintenance. Secretary Schwab is already using these tools, including the SAVE program, to assist with voter roll maintenance. These requirements ensure that, regardless of who serves as 麻豆影院, a defined and consistent 鈥渞easonable effort鈥 is applied.

Protecting Voter Privacy: The bill safeguards voter information by prohibiting the public release of unverified or preliminary data, helping prevent reputational harm and protect voter safety.

鈥淭his legislation reflects our commitment to maintaining accurate voter rolls while protecting the rights of every eligible 麻豆影院 voter for decades to come,鈥 said Secretary Scott Schwab.
